Japan claims that Chinese spy balloons may have been the past objects that flew over airspace.
In light of the fact that a Chinese spy balloon was shot down by the United States after crossing US territory, Japan stated last week that it was re-analyzing a number of incidents involving unidentified aerial objects.
According to Tokyo’s defense ministry, a new analysis of unidentified aerial objects that flew over Japan’s airspace in recent years “strongly” suggests that they were Chinese spy balloons.
In a statement released late on Tuesday, the defense ministry stated, “After further analysis of specific balloon-shaped flying objects previously identified in Japanese airspace, including those in November 2019, June 2020, and September 2021, we have concluded that the balloons are strongly presumed to be unmanned reconnaissance balloons flown by China.”
It stated that it had “strongly demanded the facts of the incident be confirmed by the Chinese government” and that “such a situation not occur again in the future” were its goals.
It went on to say that “violations of airspace by foreign unmanned reconnaissance balloons and other means are completely unacceptable.”

The US military made adjustments to its radar to look for smaller objects after the incident, and they found three more unidentified craft that President Joe Biden ordered shot down: one over Alaska, another over Canada, and the third over Lake Huron off Michigan.
