On Monday, in the San Bernardino National Forest in California, a teen pilot in a single-engine aircraft with several family members aboard made an emergency landing close to a two-lane highway.
In an interview, 18-year-old pilot Brock Peters stated, “We’re coming through the pass and I hear a boom and then I lose all my engine power.” He was speaking to CNN affiliate KCBS/KCAL. According to KCBS/KCAL, he landed the aircraft on a frontage road in the Cajon Pass.
CNN was informed by the Federal Aviation Administration that a Piper PA-28 carrying four passengers made an early morning landing on Cajon Boulevard on Monday.
According to KCBS/KCAL, Peters was flying his grandmother and two cousins from Apple Valley Airport to Riverside Airport when his engine failed. Because of the terrain, he was unable to alert a tower at a nearby airport.
Peters stated to KCBS/KCAL, “I can hear my grandma crying in the back.” “I’ve got to tune her out, concentrate on what I need to do, get this plane safely down, and make sure everyone is okay,” I think.
